·       The Transfer of Authority (TOA) between contingents has taken place at Koulikoro Training Centre (KTC)

On Wednesday 27th November, the Transfer of Authority (TOA) between the 14th and 15th contingents in the European Training Mission in Mali (EUTM Mali) took place at the Koulikoro Training Centre (KTC).

Six months have elapsed since the 16th Brigade Canarias members started their mission in Mali. It has been a very demanding work period, during which the Tactical Group “Ceriñola”, made up of units from the 50 Regiment “Canarias”, marines and Czech soldiers, has played an excellent and impeccable role, keeping all the time a high level of security into the European Union mission. Once a detailed equipment and entrustments replacement took place, the 15th EUTM MALI contingent is ready to take action.

The new Spanish contingent is composed of units from Brigade of the Legion, mainly the X Spanish Legion Bandera “Millán Astray” and teams from the Combat Engineers Bandera, Headquarters Bandera and the Field Artillery Group. As it happens with previous contingents, the force is also completed with members of the Tercio de Armada from Spanish Marine Infantry and an important contribution of Czech soldiers included within the Tactical Group of Protection Force.

After more than six months of full training, the legionary units are ready to act as the shield of the European Union training mission in Mali, showing a strong national commitment with their foreign allies. Their greatest motivation is to fulfil their security work by keeping the Spanish pavilion at least at the same level it had been when it was in charge of the 16th Brigade Canarias.
