The Spanish contingent in the European Union Training Mission in Mali (EUTM Mali) has inaugurated a civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) project in the Bamako-Koura neighbourhood. This project is aimed at improving the new classrooms, as well as the equipment at the Training Centre for Women managed by the Spanish Religious congregation of María Inmaculada.

The opening ceremony, held on 14th November, was attended by many civilian and military authorities, among them the Spanish Ambassador to Mali, Miguel Gómez de Aranda, and the Chief of the Spanish contingent in EUTM Mali, Colonel Vicente Torres. In addition, more than 200 students of the centre were also present.

Local authorities have expressed their gratitude towards the Spanish military contingent for the efforts done by Spain in the interest of young people of this country. They also emphasized the importance that investment into education has in order to guarantee a better future and autonomy to women in Bamako.

After the speeches, the most symbolic part of the ceremony was held, including the national anthems, unveiling of a commemorative plaque and signing of the reception certificates.

To conclude, the authorities visited the Training Centre, stating the great possibilities offered by the new classrooms and recognising again the commitment in favour of Malian women undertaken by Spanish soldiers.
