Members of the Tactical Air Detachment (DAT) “Tigru”, deployed in the Romanian town of Schitu in the NATO eAP-RDR (enhanced Air Policing Radar) mission, have visited the 76th ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) Brigade and the Control and Reporting Center (CRC) of the Romanian Air Force (RoAF), both located in Moara Vlasiei, a town on the outskirts of Bucharest.
The head of the 76th ISR Brigade, Colonel Bolaciu Relu, gave a detailed presentation on the brigade's operational capabilities, highlighting the use of advanced air surveillance systems and the permanent relationship with allied air forces to maintain security in the region.
Subsequently, the personnel visited the CRC, where the Romanian military explained to the Spanish detachment the organizational structure and the resources used in the surveillance and tactical air control of its air forces.
This meeting not only reaffirms the close alliance between Spain and Romania within the NATO framework, but also underlines the strategic importance of Operation Persistent Effort in the region.
“Persistent Effort” Operation
The AN/TPS-43M radar deployed in Romania is part of the 'Persistent Effort' operation, which also integrates UDAA NASAMS in Latvia and UDAA NASAMS in Estonia, the Patriot battery in Turkey and air detachments performing Air Policing missions, such as the DAT “Paznic”, which is currently located in Romania.
The Spanish participation in the protection of the eastern flank of allied territory is proof of Spain's commitment to the Alliance and another example of solidarity with our allies, with whom we share the values that sustain and protect democracy, freedom and world security.
