  • Frigate 'Almirante Juan de Borbón', which left Ferrol last September 14, ends its integration within the SNMG-1

Frigate 'Almirante Juan de Borbón' arrived at its home port, the Military Arsenal of Ferrol, yesterday, Tuesday, November 9, after concluding its integration in the Standing NATO Naval Group 1 (SNMG-1).

During the deployment, the ship has carried out naval presence in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. It has also participated in the multinational exercise 'Joint Warrior 21-2' in Scotland and also in the British manoeuvres 'Fost' in the south of the United Kingdom. The main objective of the Frigate in these manoeuvres has been to provide support and air defence to the participating units.

The SNMG-1 is a multinational, integrated maritime group and, on this occasion, the Spanish frigate has coincided with a Canadian, a Portuguese, a Norwegian, a Dutch and a Belgian ship. This increases the interoperability between the navies of the different NATO members. In addition, the 'Almirante Juan de Borbón' served as flag ship for 20 days, during which it embarked the Canadian Commodore in command of the group and part of its General Staff.

After more than 11,000 miles sailed, the crew of the Frigate 'Almirante Juan de Borbón', as well as the Embarked Air Unit with its SH60B helicopter and the Operational Security Team, are returning home after having successfully completed their integration and having demonstrated the commitment that Spain and the Armed Forces have with NATO.
