The Spanish contingent, led by the Parachute Brigade (BRIPAC), participated together with a representation of the NATO Multinational Brigade Task Force in Slovakia (MN BDE TF SVK) in the celebration of the National Day of the Slovak Armed Forces.
The Spanish military personnel participated in a static exhibition, where the Cavalry Reconnaissance and Combat Vehicle ‘Centauro’ aroused a lot of interest. In addition to exhibiting different weapons, equipment and parachutes, the Spanish soldiers had the opportunity to interact with the Slovakian population.
In addition, Spanish personnel paraded in a formation of the MN BDE TF SVK contingent. Throughout the day, a series of military exhibitions took place, including special operations, armoured units, the presence of various aircraft and a parachute drop.
Among the authorities attending these commemorative events were the President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini, and the Chief of the Armed Forces, General Daniel Zmeko. Representing Spain were the Spanish Ambassador to Slovakia, Lorea Arribalzaga Ceballos, and Colonel Francisco Calvo Rodríguez, head of NATO's MN BDE TF SVK. Colonel Calvo Rodríguez was awarded the bronze medal of recognition by the Slovak Chief of Defence (JEMAD) for his work at the head of the NATO Multinational Brigade.
