Josep Borrell congratulates Spanish soldiers for their work on the NATO Operation eFP
30th August 2019.- Josep Borrell, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, has visited the Spanish military contingent deployed at Adazi Military Base, Latvia, under the framework of NATO Operation «Enhanced Forward Presence» (eFP in English).
Minister Borrell, with the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defence of Latvia, has gained a first-hand insight on the work performed by the Spanish soldiers, as well as on the Pizarro infantry fighting vehicles and the Leopard tanks deployed there.
The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs has appreciated the work performed by Spanish soldiers, who compose the fifth Spanish rotation of the eFP battalion in Latvia. Said rotation is mainly composed of the 11th “Extremadura”, completed with personnel from other units, as the 61st Logistic Support Group, the Signals Command and the Campaign Artillery Command.
Spanish Armed Forces participation in eFP, a NATO collective defence operation, is a clear manifestation of Spain´s strong commitment and solidarity towards our allies.
