Handover ceremony between the eFP 11th contingent and the incoming eFP 12th contingent at the Latvian Adazi base. A ceremony presided by the Commanding General of the 12th "Guadarrama" Brigade, Javier Miragaya Prieto.
During the ceremony, eFP 11th personnel were decorated by the head of the Latvian Mechanised Infantry Brigade - Colonel Sandris Gaugers - and the head of the Latvian Task Force Colonel - Vincent Kirstein. They together highlighted the excellent relationship that both units maintain with the Spanish contingent.
In his speech, the head of the eFP 11th contingent, Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Aranda Gil, thanked the Spanish troops for their work and highlighted their commitment and effort during these six months. The military ceremony ended with a tribute to all those who have fallen in the line of duty for Spain.
During its deployment, the outgoing Spanish contingent has participated in different exercises that took place at the Adazi operation area, where they have shown a high level of instruction, involvement, and loyalty.
The eFP mission is in its fifth year in Latvia since it deployed a multinational Battle Group in 2017 to deter any attempt of aggression against Latvian territory. During 2022, Spain has shown its commitment to the Atlantic Alliance and its allies in Eastern Europe, reinforcing its military capabilities and contributing with new weapons systems.
