  • Miguel de Cervantes base was the venue for conducting the Reserve Integration Training Exercise (RITEX) to improve interoperability

Spanish troops from the contingent deployed in Lebanon have led the Reserve Integration Training Exercise (RITEX), conducted this week at Base Miguel de Cervantes (Marjayoun). The aim was to improve interoperability between units within Lebanon's Sector East.

Exercise RITEX 1-21 consists of a gradual deployment of reserve personnel at all levels, with drills and procedures related to crisis scenarios. Specifically, warning procedures have been carried out to handle an emergency situation in the participation of the sectors' different units. For this purpose, the procedure to manage the Command and Control systems assigned has been enhanced, as well as the decision-making process, resulting in an improved coordination at the tactical level.

The different units of the sector have successfully overcome all the situations planned, with the aim of consolidating solid procedures and their capabilities in the face of a challenging situation, for which the ability to react, interoperability and control procedures have been key.

Participants have been mainly assessed on coordination procedures, the flow of communication and information issues, as well as the transfer of command and control authority at all levels.
