Task Force Toro resumes operations from Al Asad Air Base

Al Asad Air Base, Iraq
August 3, 2020

·      The Spanish helicopter unit will operate within the framework of Operation Inherent Resolve fighting DAESH

Task Force Toro has begun operating from Al Asad Iraqi Air Base (AAAB), the new home base of the Spanish helicopter unit since August 1st.

The deployment of all 73 Spanish servicemen and six helicopters has been completed on three stages between July 26th and 30th, the movement was carried out while continuing the current operations from the former base in Taji. This location change has meant a huge logistics effort that has not affected the unit's operations in any way.

After two months in Iraq, the ISPUHEL XII has carried out more than 60 missions in support of the coalition, completing more than 420 flight hours and transporting a total of 1,800 passengers and more than 150,000 kilos of cargo.

This location change  has been a challenge for all personnel belonging to ISPUHEL XII who make up Task Force Toro. A good work and strong commitment of all men and women of the Spanish Army has shown our allies the excellence of the Spanish Armed Forces.

Task Force Toro is under the tactical control of Task Force Red Devils, made up of personnel and resources from the US Army, and carries out a wide variety of missions, both in daytime and nighttime environments.

Our Armed Forces´commitment to the Coalition is the best way to keep Spaniards safe from foreing lands.
