The ‘Tercio de Armada’ starts a new training module for Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel

In San Fernando, Cádiz
May 6, 2024
  • This is the 'Basic Training Course' given by the 7th Combat Training Unit 'Tercio de Armada'.

Almost a hundred members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are in the province of Cadiz to begin their training in the framework of the European Union's Military Assistance Mission in Support of Ukraine. Spain has contributed to this mission by training more than four thousand Ukrainian military personnel to date.

Members of the Second Landing Battalion of the Marine Infantry Brigade ‘Tercio de Armada’ will give the training of the Ukrainian soldiers.

The training, which will last just over five weeks, will take place mainly at the Sierra del Retín Manoeuvres Field at the facilities of the 'Tercio de Armada' and will focus on the basic individual and unit training of the soldiers, as well as their training to perform the role of infantry combatant in conventional combat.

During the course, offensive and defensive exercises will be conducted in open field and urban environments in a conventional atmosphere, as well as the use of weapons systems and the tactical treatment of casualties in combat, all with the aim of facilitating the future integration of Ukrainian personnel into their units.

Once this module has completed, nearly 700 Ukrainian military personnel will have finished their training in the seven courses given by the 'Tercio de Armada' since its participation began in the first semester of last year.
